Biotechnology Professional Associations (also called Biotechnology Professional Bodies) are non-for-profit organisations seeking to further the interests of the biotechnology sector, the interests of the members involved in the biotechnology sector and the public interest.
Many Biotechnology Professional Associations are involved in the development and monitoring of professional educational programs and the updating of skills, and thus perform professional certification to indicate that a person possesses qualifications in biotechnology. Sometimes membership of a Biotechnology Professional Association is synonymous with a certification, though not always.
