| Global BioNetworksThe Network has developed strong business connections with biotechnology associations and support organisations around the globe. These connections will enable Victorian biotechnology companies to gain access to business development opportunities in key global biotechnology centres. The Network’s linkages extend from the US, Europe, the UK, Asia and New Zealand. We can facilitate your connection to these organisations and their respective industry members so as to streamline your research and business development opportunities for collaborations, licences, joint ventures and partnerships.The Network has active connections with a number of key international organisations including: GlobalBioSciences Partnership The Global Bioscience Partnership (GBP) was formed to stimulate bioscience business development around the world through information sharing, copromotion activities, and sharing of business development tools and resources. Membership is available to bioscience trade associations and related groups that are active in the promotion of regional bioscience business development initiatives. The GBP is organised and such a way as to be democratic and transparent, for the benefit of all members, and will not be dominated by single country or group. The international composition of the GBP will be reflected in the make up of the management committee, scientific and advisory boards. Massachusetts Biotechnology Council, Boston, The Massachusetts Biotechnology Council (MBC), founded in 1985, is a not-for-profit organisation that provides services and support for the Massachusetts biotechnology industry. The MBC is committed to advancing the development of critical new science, technology and medicines that benefit people worldwide. Representing over 400 companies, academic institutions and service organisations involved in biotechnology and health care, the MBC works with public leaders to advance policy and promote education, while providing member programmes and services. BayBio, San Francisco BayBio is widely known as "information headquarters" for the bioscience community in Northern California. The media, elected officials, and the public rely on us to articulate accomplishments and needs of the local bioscience community. BIOCOM, San Diego Biocom positions the Greater San Diego life science community to achieve individual and collective success on the world stage of scientific and technological innovation, and in the development of products that improve global health and quality of life. Pennsylvania Biotechnology Association The Pennsylvania Biotechnology Association (PABIOTECH) advances the life sciences in Pennsylvania by creating commercial opportunities and public policy strategies that lead to greater understanding, growth, and community support of biotechnology. BioIndustry Association – BIA The BioIndustry Association (BIA) is the trade association for innovative enterprises in the UK's bioscience sector. Established in 1989, our mission is to encourage and promote a thriving, financially sound sector of the UK economy, built upon developments across the biosciences. We seek to create economic growth, increase employment opportunities, and expand the skills base. Eastern Regional Biotechnology Initiative (ERBI) Cambridge UK Networking in Cambridge and the East of England Bio-community ERBI’s aims are to assist with the health, wealth and growth of biotechnology in Cambridge and the East of England through networking and communications. London Development Agency, London The London Development Agency prepares the Mayor’s business plan for London by mobilising the support and resources of hundreds of partner organisations. BIOTECanada, National BIOTECanada is the national organisation dedicated to promoting better understanding of biotechnology and many ways it contributes to improving the quality of life of all Canadians. BC Biotech, British Columbia BC Biotech is a not-for-profit industry association for producers and users of biotechnology. On behalf of its membership, BC biotech promotes facilitates the development of a strong commercial biotechnology industry in BC. BioAlberta, Alberta BioAlberta is a private, not-for-profit industry association, representing Alberta’s growing biotechnology sector. And bio Alberta currently lists over 100 members, including producers, users and supporters of biotechnology activities in Alberta. On behalf of its membership, bio Alberta promotes increased awareness and support for the growth of Alberta is biotechnology industry and biotech capabilities across all sectors. BioNova, Nova Scotia BioNova is the voice of Nova Scotia’s growing biotechnology and life sciences industry. BioNova help our members to develop their businesses as the sector grows in the province. BioNova provides them with networking opportunities and our members benefit from our strong strategic alliances with government and the private sector. BioNova also promotes the life sciences through public education initiatives, training seminars and workshops as well as student outreach programmes such as the Aventis Biotech to Challenge. BIOQuébec, Quebec BIOQuebec counts over 200 innovative companies as members and is committed to support the growth and vitality of Quebec's biotechnology companies. Bio Quebec is the only voice speaking out on behalf of Quebec's biotechnology companies and is also a first-rate instrument for making the industry's views heard by the government, other associations, the media and the public at large. BIOQuebec lobbies government decision makers were necessary to make the latter aware of the positions and interests of the biotech industry sector and to propose solutions to then take into account the issues affecting the entire industry. Ottawa Life Sciences Council (OLSC), Ottawa The Ottawa Life Sciences Council is a not-for-profit local and international, private public sector partnership committed to stimulate the growth of the life sciences sector in the Ottawa area. Through its programmes, projects and events, the 0LSC strives to foster the development of new technologies and companies, as well as raise the profile of the local life sciences sector, both nationally and internationally. Asia Biotech Consortium India Limited, India Biotech Consortium India Limited (BCIL), a company promoted by the Department of biotechnology (DBT), Government of India and the all India financial institutions and corporate sector as the shareholders, works for accelerated development and commercialisation of biotechnology. For this purpose, it brings together industry and our R&D institutions to facilitate translation of research into commercial ventures, provide consultancy to industry, government and international organisations in order to develop the biotechnology industry and creates awareness throughout the nation by information dissemination of significant current developments in the area. Europe The Network has developed linkages with the following bodies through the Global BioSciences Partnership (The Network sits on the Board of the Partnership secretariat). Alsace Development International, France Alsace Development International (ADI) is the international division of the economic development of authorities of the Alsace region of France. The life sciences field in Alsace represents over 40 percent of all research conducted in Alsace. This region, along with the Baden-Wurttemburg bird area of Germany and Basle area of Switzerland, is known as the BioValley. In Alsace alone, there are over 100 companies in biotechnology pharmaceuticals, medical device and diagnostics equipment to employ an estimated 5000 people. Deutsche Industrievereinigung Biotechnologie (DIB), Germany DIB, that association of biotechnology industries, is Germany’s trade association for industrial biotechnology. The DIB speaks for 200 large, medium-sized, and small member companies engaged in research, development and production of pharmaceuticals, diagnostics, agro-biotech products, enzymes, food additives, and others. Around half of the DIB membership are newly established entrepreneurial biotech companies. EBE – Emerging Biopharmaceutical Enterprises, Belgium EBE (Emerging Biopharmaceutical Enterprises) represents the biopharmaceutical companies operating in Europe and seeks on their behalf a favourable scientific, competitive and regulatory environment, thus accelerating the access to patients of the benefits delivered by biotechnology. In addition, this supports biopharmaceutical companies in Europe in their goal to research and development groundbreaking, safe, efficacious and high-quality health care solutions for patients. Portuguese Bioindustries Association (APBio), Portugal Like other national associations in European countries, a national association was created in 1999 with the objective of bringing together the Portuguese Bioindustries in order to establish a database of information related to biotechnology's developments in Portugal: communitarian and national legislation; industrial property rights; incentives; promotion and establishment of partnerships between national and international companies; public opinion towards Biotechnology, etc. For more information contact Tim Murphy, Executive Director |
